David Cameron, Twats and Twitter

Mr Cameron The product of a first class private education, it is little wonder that the illustrious Mr Cameron is also aware of the original meaning ‘twat’ and its relation to the modern phenomenon of Twitter.

He was unfairly lambasted for using the word ‘twat’ on the radio in 2009 when talking about those amongst us who Tweet a little too often.

"The trouble with Twitter, the instantness of it – too many twits might make a twat."

Twitter fulfils a deep-seated human need to share thoughts with others. Many thoughts are, however, rather superficial and would be the better for not being aired. The vacuous nature of many Tweets contributes to the often narcissistic atmosphere of the medium. It is lack of meaningful content that has led to so much being tweeted by so many to so few.
